(CNN) — If sweating though your shirt in summer’s extreme heat makes you mad, you’re not alone. In fact, research shows that there’s a direct correlation between high temperatures and hot tempers, and that anger can sometimes lead to bad behavior.Violent crimes like murder, aggravated assault and rape, terrorist attacks and mass shootings are much more likely when temperatures climb, studies show. There are higher rates of civil wars and riots. Even in controlled environments like prisons, a 2021 study found an 18% increase in violence between inmates on really hot days. People may also turn their anger on themselves; there’s a higher risk of suicide on hotter days.There could be many reasons for these links, but recent research has confirmed that some people were angrier and lashed out more when they felt hot. Warner Bros. Discovery is cutting its profit expectations for the year, saying it will likely incur costs as high as $500 million tied to the ongoing Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strike.The U.S. film and television industries remain paralyzed by the dual strikes. TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Strong ocean rip currents along the mid-Atlantic coast created hazardous swimming conditions on Tuesday after several deaths were reported and hundreds of other swimmers had to be rescued by lifeguards during the Labor Day holiday weekend. Rip current warnings issued by the National Weather Service remained in effect Tuesday from New York to North Carolina, and that agency also was urging swimmers to use extra caution and only swim in area where lifeguards were present.The dangerous currents were spawned by the remnants of hurricanes Franklin and Idalia, officials said. DENVER (KDVR) — On Tuesday, former McAuliffe International School principal Kurt Dennis filed a lawsuit against Denver Public Schools for wrongful termination. Earlier this year, Dennis believed he was originally fired for sharing confidential student information in a news interview after two deans were shot at East High School. Dennis said he and his staff were forced to conduct the exact same pat-down policy with a student who was charged with similar firearm-related offenses as the student in the East High incident. Police arrested a man after a multi-vehicle collision in Miami on Monday night claimed the life of one person while they were in the hospital as police investigated the circumstances that led to the deadly crash.Miami Police and fire rescue crews responded to the scene, located at 1200 NE 79th St., where the collision unfolded. Authorities said the incident involved five cars and a motorcycle. According to police, one person was ejected from their vehicle. Emergency responders airlifted them to Jackson Memorial Hospital for urgent medical treatment. The victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.While the eastbound lanes on the 79th Street bridge have since been reopened to traffic Monday night, the westbound lanes remained closed for several hours. Just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, officials reopened all lanes. An aircraft’s pilot is OK after a plane crash lands at North Perry Airport. On Tuesday afternoon, a single-engine plane attempted to land on a runway at the airport and landed with its nose on the ground. Apparently, the nose gear collapsed as it touched down on the pavement. Live video footage showed the blades bent in the front of the aircraft. Fire rescue crews were on the scene as they spoke to the pilot, who walked away from the crash unharmed. Officials are now investigating the cause of the plane’s malfunction. The announcement is scheduled for Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Miami-Dade County Building Department located at 11805 SW 26th St. where Mayor Cid will be joined by members of the community and the media. Cid’s political journey began in 2012 when he was elected to the Miami Lakes Council and he ascended to the role of Vice-Mayor in August 2013.
