ATV rider killed in Oakley collision

OAKLEY — A man riding a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle on a city street was killed Tuesday morning in a collision with a pickup truck, authorities said.The name of the man killed, who police said was a 22-year-old Antioch resident, was not immediately released. The driver of the truck was hospitalized.The collision happened just before 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 5200 block of Neroly Road near Elm Lane.Police said initial reports indicated the ATV — a four-wheeled vehicle often used offroad — was going southbound on Neroly Road when the rider lost control of the vehicle and entered a locked-wheel skid that brought him into the northbound lane.The ATV struck the front corner of an oncoming pickup truck, sending the ATV and the rider back across the southbound lane of Neroly Road and into an adjacent field.The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital to be treated for complaints of pain, police said.Related ArticlesCrashes and Disasters | ...Marina residents, including Joe Montana, sue San Francisco over raw sewage

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- One of San Francisco's most famous residents, former 49ers quarterback Joe Montana, is suing the city over its "antiquated" and flawed sewage system. Montana, his wife, and dozens of other Marina residents are named as plaintiffs in a lawsuit after their homes were flooded with raw sewage during relentless rainstorms last winter. Powerful atmospheric rivers drenched the city with rain in December of 2022 and January 2023. "A mix of raw sewage and storm water flowed in and around plaintiffs’ properties, permeating the soils, walls, and floors, and depositing highly contaminated and toxic fecal and other raw sewage matter in and around plaintiffs’ homes," according to the lawsuit, filed on August 24. Major stock indexes on Wall Street closed lower Tuesday, giving back some of their recent gains as traders returned from a long holiday weekend. The S&P 500 fell 0.4%, while the Nasdaq composite slipped 0.1%. Both indexes were coming off their second weekly gain. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.6%. A Prince George’s County, Maryland, police officer has been suspended after a video circulating on social media appears to show a uniformed officer embracing someone and then getting into the back seat of a police cruiser with her.Prince George’s County police identified the officer as Cpl. DENVER (KDVR) — On Tuesday, former McAuliffe International School principal Kurt Dennis filed a lawsuit against Denver Public Schools for wrongful termination. Earlier this year, Dennis believed he was originally fired for sharing confidential student information in a news interview after two deans were shot at East High School. Dennis said he and his staff were forced to conduct the exact same pat-down policy with a student who was charged with similar firearm-related offenses as the student in the East High incident.According to the lawsuit, the student at McAuliffe was criminally charged with attempted murder after the student allegedly entered a liquor store to rob it and shot the clerk. Tropical Storm Lee, the season’s 12th named storm, is on the move having formed over the central Atlantic, Tuesday afternoon. Initial winds are estimated to be 45 mph (with higher gusts). As the storm continues to move west-northwest, it’s likely to get stronger and become a major hurricane by the end of the week!Lee is far from land and the current forecast has no land areas within the 5-day cone.
