It will be another month before Colorado families know where they can send their children for preschool under the state’s new universal preschool program.Families were supposed to learn which programs they had matched with on Thursday. But on Tuesday, officials with Colorado’s Department of Early Childhood announced they plan to tell families on April 26.As reported by Chalkbeat, more than 20 education and early childhood groups had asked the state to push back initial matches due to problems with the algorithm that meant some families might miss out on top choices and other families might be offered seats that didn’t meet their needs. They feared the program was being rushed, and families would end up frustrated.State officials held firm to the initial March 30 matching date until just two days prior. Denver Public Schools even sent an email to parents Tuesday afternoon telling families to watch their texts and emails for state notifications this Thursday.Related ArticlesEducation ...Vacant DTC office building, formerly home to Comcast, hitting auction block

The owner of a parking lot next to Coors Field says economic conditions have pushed back plans to build on it, so he hopes to use shipping containers to turn the lot into an “outdoor gathering space” for now.San Francisco-based Fillmore Capital Partners paid $4.4 million in 2019 for the 0.29-acre lot at 2000 Blake St., and last year successfully got the city to rezone the property to allow eight stories. But Fillmore CEO Ron Silva told BusinessDen Tuesday that plans to build on the lot have been paused.“Given where the Federal Reserve is, interest rates, the business environment – doing vertical development is simply not economically possible right now,” he said.In March 2022, Silva said he hoped to break ground on a mixed-use project at the site as early as this summer. But on Tuesday, he said that likely won’t happen for at least a few years. In the meantime, Silva wants to do more than just parking cars.“We’d really like to enhance the experience, eliminate the parking lot that ser...Oilman Jack Grynberg “suffered from insane delusions” but his contract valid, judge rules

The late Denver wildcatter Jack Grynberg “suffered from insane delusions” in the waning years of his life, a Centennial judge says, but that doesn’t nullify a contract he signed.“A party can be insane for some purposes and still have the capacity to contract,” Arapahoe County District Court Judge Peter Michaelson determined this month.Grynberg, a self-described Holocaust survivor, built a fortune digging for oil and gas in far-flung places after graduating from the Colorado School of Mines in the early 1950s. He died at age 89 in 2021 after several years of cognitive decline, family feuds and constant litigation. In March 2022, Grynberg’s family sued several of his former lawyers, accusing them of making millions of dollars by hiding Grynberg’s deterioration and allowing him to file frivolous lawsuits against his wife and children, among others. The lawyers deny wrongdoing. For nearly one year after it was filed, that case was bogged down by a procedural matter — whether former Grynbe...‘I’m not sorry’: Business lawyer suspended for forging letter to ex-wife
